Paul-Matthieu Grondin first worked as a lawyer for the House of Commons before joining the Oliphant Commission, mandated to investigate the commercial and financial dealings of the Right Honourable Brian Mulroney and Mr. Karlheinz Schreiber. He then worked as a lawyer for the Honourable Michel Bastarache during the commission of inquiry into the nomination process of judges. He has also penned articles for the Journal of Parliamentary and Political Law.
He earned a Bachelor of Laws from the Université de Sherbrooke and a juris doctor from Queen’s University. In February 2009, Mtre Grondin joined forces with Roberto Savarese to found the Grondin Savarese law firm. Mtre Grondin has since been invited to speak at the Université de Sherbrooke, at the École des Hautes Études Commerciales of the Université de Montréal, at McGill University, at Université Jean Moulin III in Lyon, at the American Bar Association and at the Barreau du Québec.
In January 2014, Mtre Grondin won the first prize at the International Oratory Competition in Brussels, Belgium. On May 31, 2014, Mtre Grondin became the 115th president of the Young Bar of Montreal.
From 2017 to 2021, he was elected and reelected as bâtonnier du Québec (president of the Barreau du Québec). He was the youngest candidate ever to hold such a position at the Barreau, and the youngest of any professional order in Quebec.
